Women work and “not work” is always become a sensitive issue to be discussed. In every discussion about women work, there are two side who agree and disagree. Women who work as the pro and women who are “not work’ ussually as the con. This two side are often fighting with each argument to show whose status which is the best.
Talking about this topic, I have an experience when i went to one of the hospitals in Jogja some weeks ago. I went to check up my pregnancy at the hospital with my husband and we found that the employees of the hospital mostly are women. My husband said, "Their works is very help us here." I also did agree with my husband because the women there are very friendly and the have finished their work professionally. Then i was reminded about any stereotypes which spread in society. Generally, there are many persons who thinks that women who work outside their homes is not good mother or wife. Then, i said to my husband, "As we can see now, the employees in this hospital are mostly women and they are the women who work, who often called as the career women. We do not have to join others thoughts which gave negatives judgement to women like them because they already work, devide their time with their family to help others and they have struggle to serve women who does not work yet such as me.”
If we take a look in Islamic perspective, moslem women is suggested to keep stay in their homes. It was written in the verse of Alqur'an; Al-ahzab:33. This statement of the verse of Alqur'an sometime become a bullet of women who are not work outside home toward the women who works outside. Whereas actually, Islam do not ever prohibit the women to work based on the other verse of Alqur'an; At-taubah:105. Islam is not forbid humans to work, either women or men. Furthermore, which become a question is ”should women work outside their home?” Personally, I think that every women are should be working, either in their home or outside their home. About women who work outside their homes, I look this as a thing that is more closer to Islamic fiqh topic of discussion and I have no enough knowledge to discuss about it deeply. However, as I know so far, moslem women are allowed to work outside their home as long as they are able to qualify the islamic requirements such as, choose the kinds of job which are good and they have been allowed by their husband or family, also they have to cover their body with hijab when go outside for work. Moslem women are also can work as long as they have true goals and reasons, for "Ibadah" as basic willing. For example, they are willing to help others by teaching, being a doctor or a nurse, and the other kind of jobs related to society service. Finally, in conclusion, every women are actually work, either she is the housewife (in their home) or the career women (outside their home). Both have their each job and have to clean the willing become just for "Ibadah" only.
